Those of you who know me well are aware of my fascination with Halcyon. Anyway, in addition to being stunningly gorgeous on the outside, he is even more beautiful on the inside and it shows in his work. Last night he was rewarded for all the blood, sweat and tears he puts into his site. Congrats John!

p.s. for the ladies... This makes awesome wallpaper... sorry mom :)

ACK!! It's summer and in Iowa that means some wicked ass thunderstorms are bound to happen. Been a fact of life for 33 years, yet I still cringe thinking about it.

Speaking of cringing, I got confirmation today that my name is indeed on the Metallica list. "Unable to login. lwhirrett banned. Banned by Metallica. See http://infringe.napster.com/metallica.html. Funny... as I type this, winamp begins to play The Memory Remains... and yes I own the damn CD. sigh.

In other news, my boss just told me his shirt from PinStruck arrived today. He gets just a little more bizarre with each sunrise. Don't know his wife real well but I hope she is gathering the evidence to have him commited. hehe

Well, yesterday wasn't better. It was so bad that I didn't even have time to do an entry. Today was a little better but not a lot in the way of actual productivity. Not a good week to own computers. Been threatening to quit my job and go to work at Hy-Vee. I think I'd be good at carrying out groceries... 'cept on rainy days. Seriously though, I do love my job.. just some days nothing goes right and other days I feel really incompetent. Looking for a link to match incompetency, I stumbled into this. Dang. Sounds so hopeless. I haven't hit that point yet. I don't know when to say when - I just plow forward, work as hard as I can and eat up those little thank you's along the way.

Today was a Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. At work and at home. I got out on the same side of the bed as I always do so that can't be it. It rained most of the day and that can make a day seem worse than it is. Tomorrow *will* be better.

What is a person supposed to do when they want desperately to blog but can't because the boss will note the time?? I can't exactly take a blog break because my breaks are for resting my wrists. Jack, I know you are new and all but could you throw out the suggestion that voice recognition be the next feature added to blogger? That would kick ass! People could work and blog simultaneously all dang day!!

Fifty-one percent of college students say they will leave the state after graduation. I hope no one finds this surprising. People have been leaving in droves for as long as I can recall. Off the top of my head, I can only think of half a dozen of my high school classmates who stayed around. Don't get me wrong... I love my hometown but there is nothing to do here, especially if you are young. I only stay because I'm too scared to go anywhere else.

I read a lot of weblogs and have found a new favorite: Bite This. Coincidentally (or not), my favorite saying is "Bite me!". I love her writing style but do totally disagree with her on the Metallica vs. Napster issue. Maybe because my name is probably on the list Metallica turned in.

I bought Christopher some Sea Monkeys from Amazon and wasn't sure what to expect. Today is Day Four and we can actually see them now. I had them when I was his age and was fascinated by them for about a day. He has a longer attention span than I do so he's still checking them out every hour.

On second thought, life isn't so good. Well, it's good.. it's just not real fair. Yes, I am whining and as usual, I am the only one who thinks I have good reason to. Call me crazy but I think the person who has had the most sleep should be the one to get up with the kids.

Please excuse the mess... trying to redesign and with the help of Blogger, this thing should be updated more frequently. Still have changes to make to the other pages and will be adding some new stuff as time permits. Do you hear that Mark??? Can't blame him entirely... he pays me generously for my time. Soccer, t-ball, Boy Scouts.. those things all pay too - just can't put that payoff in the bank. Funny how that works - spending time with your children is the most rewarding thing in the world. Can't physically see it or hold it in your hand but you know it's there. If you are smart, you also know that if you miss it, you can never get it back.

Thanks to Bart for the new graphic. I swear, I sent him my lame attempt and within ten minutes, he had sent me three revisions, each one better than the one before. He is totally amazing.
