I was right... you gloat too soon and life bites ya in the ass! Following my raise and all the happiness of the last entry, all hell broke loose. First, I had to take my car into the body shop a week ago Monday. It was to be finished by Friday. No biggie I thought. I'll just borrow Todd's car. Well, it turned out to be 105 degrees that week and his car has no air. Besides that, he needed it more than I did. Again, that's no biggie; I can always work from home - one of the perks of my job. Home is normally a comfy place to work but wouldn't ya know, the hottest week of the summer and my central air quits! Had to wait two days for the repair man to come and clean it all out. There was a 24 hour period when the temperature in my house was well over 100 degrees. Made it through that. Friday comes and I can't get my car because the paint didn't come in until Friday morning. Finally got it back on the following Monday. They did an awesome job on it considering the extent of damage caused by the deer.

I've started a new week now and things are still a little out of whack. I was going to fill up the car tonight and the gas door wouldn't open. It's what my dad would've called "a fancy-ass car with more shit to go wrong" so if the automatic fuel door opener doesn't work, you just don't get in. Todd thinks he can fix it easy enough and luckily I have 1/4 tank of gas so it's not really an emergency.

And for my last bitch of the evening... school is getting out early tomorrow for teacher inservice. Teacher inservice already??? Flashback to the heat of last week: the schools dismissed two hours early every day that week because of the heat which prompted one of the columnists at the Des Moines paper to write a rant about how whimpy Iowans have become. Go read and let me hear ya say "Amen!"
