I can't tell you how happy it makes me to read - in a public place even - that Todd likes day shifts. That's his way of saying he likes being home around me. He's so romantic.... hehehe

Awhile back there was a story in the Des Moines paper about two elderly brothers who had been mauled to death by a bull. The men had gone out to destroy the bull because it had attacked and hospitalized their third brother. The third brother was released from the hospital and arrived at home to find his siblings dead in the pen - mauled to their deaths by the same bull. I remember thinking that poor man probably wouldn't make it, considering his age and the traumatic events that occurred. Apparently, he's made out of tougher stuff than I am.

It's 7PM and I'm at the office blogging while I wait for an install to finish. No biggie 'cept Todd has some training tonight so C. is here with me. He used to love to come to work with mom and play. He has his own drawer full of matchbox cars, markers, paper, etc. Now all I hear is "Mo-om! I'm bored. I wanna go home! Can we go home?" AAAAAHHHHH!!! He's a smart kid but he won't get this simple idea drilled into his head: the more he pesters, the longer we're going to be here. I can tune him out at home if I have to but in the small confines of an office... huh-uh. I may crack up before this night is over.

Someone sent me an email wanting to know if justlisa.com was for sale. They'd like it for "strategic marketing purposes". When I tried to respond to their email, it bounced back with an error saying the mailbox was full. It appeared as if whoever sent it used an alias off of another email server. Very professional. Might want to fix that little problem before you get too deep into "strategic marketing".

ugh... being cooped up with whiney butt has made me hateful.

Yesterday I loaded up on cold medicine and we headed to Indianola. I didn't really feel like it at all but I needed new clothes for summer. Can someone explain to me why a size 5 became too small but a size 4 fits perfect? Sounds crazy, doesn't it? I think it means I've gone from lean and slender to .... ummmm... squatty?? Somehow my hips are in a different place now. Maybe from sitting in front of the computer too many hours a day. Anyway, there used to be about three inches between the top of my hip bone and the bottom of my rib cage. That space has shrunk to about an inch and a half now.

I agreed to go as far as Indianola to Walmart thinking we'd buzz in, buy a few pairs of shorts and some other miscellaneous and then come back home. Todd reminded me that I needed to get an adapter for a computer so we decided to go the additional 15 miles into Des Moines to Best Buy. This is the point where one thing starts leading to another.

From Indianola Walmart to Des Moines Best Buy. From Best Buy to Menards to look at and eventually buy new carpet for the front steps. From Menards to Chi-Chi's for some fine mexican food. We got home and Todd decided to mow so I tackled the old carpet. That stuff had probably been glued down for over twenty years. I was having a hard time getting it pulled up and part of the problem was the evergreen bush hanging a foot over the edge. I called my aunt and had her bring up her hedge trimmers, thinking I'd trim it back out of my way. The hedge trimmers quit about two minutes into it so Todd decides he'll just trim with the chain saw. When he finished, we had the most horrific looking shrub I've ever seen. I drove over to his mom's and brought her back here for an extra opinion. We all looked at the various angles and determined it was best to just cut it out completely. Remember, this all started with carpet.... So the one bush is gone and now the other one looked stupid. It had been in the middle of three bushes. It and the one we cut were in front of the brick - the other in front of the wood part of the house. With just one in front of the brick and one in front of the wood, everything was out of balance. It was after 10 when we finished the first one so we decided to wait til daylight to make a decision. Got up this morning and it still looked funny so we spent the day cutting the second one out and cleaning up. Went to Pamida and bought two new flowering shrubs and planted them. The carpet that started all of this is still rolled up neatly in the garage. Go figure. Here's the before pic. Here's the after. I think I like it better although my roses that were partially shaded by the bushes may get too much sun now.

Meet Julio, the newest addition to the Savely-Whirrett household:

Our friend Tom is taking a job with the Wichita, KS police department. They can't have pets where they are moving so they have to rid themselves of some hamsters, birds, and a dog. I said we'd take the tamest bird and lo and behold, he shows up today with it and it's monstrous cage. I think Todd is less than thrilled with the prospect but he'll come around and that bird will be his best pal in no time. (I hope.)

I've done some research on cockatiels this afternoon. I keep reading that the fumes off of teflon coated cookware will kill a bird. I sure hope not because I love my T-Fal pans. Anyone know anything about cockatiels??
