The list of home improvements I'd like to make just keeps growing and growing. We can't afford them so I just put bandaids on the problems. This house has carpet all the way through. It'd decent carpet as far as wear goes but it's very old. Our previous house was all wood flooring so we didn't have a good vaccuum. Today I bought a new vaccuum in hopes that it would make the carpet look better. It didn't change the looks of it much but holy crap, did it ever suck a lot of dust out. Todd and I took the dirt cup outside and emptied it into a plastic sack to examine it closer. It seems as though this vaccuum sucked the pad thru the carpet. Really! The more wear on a carpet and/or pad, the more it breaks down underneath and turns into a powdery substance. That's what this vaccuum was pulling up... yellow carpet pad. Hmmmm... not sure if that's a good thing or not. The nylon carpet fiber will last forever I think but not sure how the looping will hold out if the backing is gone.

I've discovered a new evil. Well, I've known the source of the evil for a long time now, I just didn't realize she was so wicked. Her name is Silver. She sells Avon. Online. Now I can take an Avon book from the lady who sells Avon and promise to look at it later. Leave the book in my car for months and finally throw it away. However, I can't say no to a pretty website that sells nail polish and shampoo and bubble bath. Dang her anyway.

Are you still here?? Go buy something already : )

Candi, you will love this....Drag a cop to death because you're scared of the way police treat young African-American men? In the Quad Cities??? We're not talking freakin' L.A. here...

Good news for Iowa. One of my favorite Judges has been appointed to the Iowa Supreme Court. When I was a paralegal, I had the chance to be around several Judges from the 5th district and he was always one of the nicer ones - to me anyway. Some of them can very intimidating, especially when you're running around trying to get papers ready for them to sign and they act like you should've known their ruling ahead of time and had the papers done. Anyway, Judge Streit was never that way with me and I think he'll be fair.

And for Brooke, an article about Iowa's Boy Scout policy towards gays. On the surface it may seem as if they are passing the buck in order to get money but I honestly can't imagine our local troop discriminating against anyone for any reason

hmmmmm... guess all it takes is for me to get mad and let loose with a string of foul language that would make Andrew Dice Clay proud. All I did was add Partition Magic to the frequent search requests and Moxie to my link list. Today, I had almost 50 search requests for Partition Magic. I can't imagine how disappointed people must be when they land here from a search engine. Funny how those search engines work. Gotta be a more efficient way. For example, I had this in my referrals today. What would I possibly know about someone not answering the phone? More importantly, why would anyone search on that???

By the way, I answer my phone. Even the "out of area" calls. I even called back the computer that called me the other day. You ever get that one? "Hello. We have been trying to reach you with an important message. Please call us back at 888-432-0130." Well..... I didn't call it back until the fifth time I received it. By then curiosity got the better of me. If you call it, it says "Thank you for calling. We are unable to take your call at this time. Please leave your name, number and a short message" That would be kinda pointless, wouldn't it?

So back to where I began: My blogger template isn't messed up. It must have just not published correctly. I cussed at it and that fixed it. Now I can go to bed.

What the hell... why is it everytime I do something to my template this late at night, it screws up and I don't want to deal with it. I want to go to bed. ugh.

I see that I am link of the day over at jonsullivan.com. I don't normally link back just because someone links to me but for Jon, I make exceptions. Just reading through his comment section for today and see where he's accused of having pretended to be Batman. That is funny and oh so familiar. Christopher used to say "I am vengeance. I am the night. I...AM... BATMANNNN!" We'd all laugh and he'd get mad. According to him, he really was Batman and he went out saving people all night long and we just didn't know it because he wore special quiet shoes. I would tell him it was okay to pretend like he was Batman and he'd get all teary and say that he wasn't pretending. That was when he was five. He's eight now and vigorously denies it ever happened.

This may be old news but I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere. If you have a server and would like to make a contribution to charity, the folding@home project may be right up your alley. According to the scientific information, diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, cystic fibrosis, Mad Cow disease, an inherited form of emphysema, and even many cancers are believed to result from protein misfolding. Stanford runs simulations on other people's server so they can do more testing, faster. Apparently this speeds up the research. Todd's nephew Lance does it on his server and says it runs in the background and doesn't affect anything he's doing.

I was under strict orders to rest this weekend but I think I worked harder than I have in a long time. Yesterday we did some yard work and I cleaned the house from top to bottom. Today I set off flea foggers (remember that kitten we babysat?) and had to clean everything again only even more thoroughly this time. While the foggers were going I went to the office and worked a couple of hours.

I received a very nice surprise yesterday evening. My cellphone rang and it was the happy campers in Oregon. I tell ya', I have the greatest friends. The reception wasn't the greatest so they were going to call back again today once Al joined them. They didn't so they are either having a damn good time or John realized how much that first phone call from his cell to mine was going to cost. It was worth a million bucks to me just to hear them all giggling and to talk to everyone at once. They've already decided that next year Todd and I are flying out. Brooke suggested xanax for my flight anxiety. Amber said valium. I think if someone just smacked me in the head real hard....

One more friend to mention then I'm off to bed. Dan has been giving me nutritional guidance and suggestions to rid myself of the headaches. I believe he is correct on all of his points except for the drinking large quantities of water. I don't see how anyone can drink water, let alone large quantities. I think tomorrow I will drink water all day just to see what happens. I shall take Patti's advice and not wear overalls.
