Cutting Edge Medicine

I have lost many people to various kinds of cancer but my biggest personal fear has always been brain tumors. If you have read here long you know I used to suffer debilitating headaches that would last for days. I was just sure I had a tumor in my head and I wouldn't survive. Now I only get a few headaches a month and I'm at a point in my life where I don't fear death so much anymore.

I am still glad to know science is bounding forward in brain tumor treatment. The term "gamma knife" makes me think of laser cutting into the brain but it's actually the delivery of a large dose of radiation to a specific target with surgical precision. Rather than blast a large area with radiation, they can hone in on the actual tumor. This type of accuracy is very important as radiation is just as harmful to good cells as bad.
